Local Author Highlights Creative Date Night Locations on Florida’s First Coast

JACKSONVILLE, FL- Local author Shelley Marsh shares her ideas to spice up date night in a new book, Fifty First Coast Dates. Mrs. Marsh has been married for 13 years, and has two young sons. Shelley was prompted to write the book following her own search for a more exciting date night:
“My husband and I have always made our weekly date night a priority. However, after a while, I noticed we were getting in a rut: dinner at a restaurant, coffee afterwards, then back home. I started looking for ways to bring the excitement back. My first creative outing involved a trip to an indoor entertainment center. It’s amazing how much fun we had playing skeeball and video games together. I found that being playful reminded me of how it felt to be newly dating the man I married, and it inspired me to keep being creative. Our next outing was a river cruise in Amelia Island. When I got home and told all my friends about it, many of them said ‘we need more ideas like this!’ They were in a rut too! That’s what inspired me to write Fifty First Coast Dates.”
Fifty First Coast Dates contains 50 ideas for creative date nights in Jacksonville, Saint Augustine and Amelia Island. With topics like “Jazz It Up,” “Concerts Al Fresco (and All Free-o)” and “Taste the First Coast,” the book is informative as well as entertaining. It is a useful guide to keep in the car when debating that common question, “What are we going to do tonight?” Many local attractions are paired with romantic restaurant suggestions, so it is not just a list of locations but a collection of complete, creative date ideas discussed in an easy-to-read, playful format.
